The 90s: The Decade That Connected Us
When I first learned about this show, I got so excited because I grew up in the ‘90s. This is one ultimate throwback event that I know will catapult me back to memories from my childhood. From food, old school fashion, entertainment, to significant happenings that shocked the world.
Last September 18, National Geographic officially launched their new show, The 90s: The Decade That Connected Us, at the Samsung Hall at SM Aura alongside with the airing of its first episode. The venue setup was a bit modern but the music totally changed the mood. I remembered my elementary and high school days where boy bands and girl groups are “THE IN” thing. Admit it 90s kids, don't you just love the songs of N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Spice Girls? They were the One Direction back then. Truly, the party was a trip down memory lane right in time for #ThrowbackThursday.

So what can we expect in this new documentary series of NatGeo? The 90s saw a plethora of social and cultural events that rocked the world, including the popularity of grunge music, the advent of Viagra, a salacious White House scandal, innovations in personal computers, and various episodes of political upheaval around the globe. The show looks back on these developments in history to show how the world reacted to the fledging reality of globalization, as we slowly learned how connected human beings were becoming despite geographical and cultural differences. The series uses memorable video footages from the 90s to recall the spirit of the decade along with 120 original interviews with the unsung heroes behind riveting events as well as well-known personalities from the fields of technology, politics, and entertainment.
The show will be aired on National Geographic channel every Thursday at 9pm.
