Fun and Relaxing Weekend at Birdland Beach Club in Bolinao

Looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life?

Last week, we had a short but sweet vacay in one of the resorts in Bolinao, Pangasinan: Birdland Beach Club. Bolinao is known for really nice whitesand beaches but the place we went to is kind of different. It doesn't have that long shoreline that we used to see in photos and has lesser crowd compared to some of the well-known beaches in the country. If there's one thing that would best describe the place, it's a perfect hideaway.

Spending a night in Birdland Beach Club is a much-needed escape for me from the long stressful week I've had. The place is so relaxing, there are so many spots to just chill and sprawl, not to mention the jazz and blues music that you can hear everywhere that perfectly suits the calm ambiance of the place.

Getting to Bolinao will usually take you around 4 hours, but since we left Manila a bit late and we got lost on our way to the resort, it took us about 7 hours on the road. So, lesson learned: leave early to avoid traffic and mobile apps like Waze and Google Maps sure does come in handy if you're not too familiar with the place. If you're taking a public transport, take a Five Star bus from Cubao and a trip to Bolinao will just cost you around Php500.

As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by the resort owners Michael and Joanna. The couple were very accommodating. We had a lil chit chat with them while enjoying our refreshments and our rooms are being prepped up.

The entire resort is still under development. Greens, corals, nipa huts, and hundreds of cute bird houses can be found everywhere. Currently, there are only two villas available. One villa has two rooms and the other one is a loft type. Each air-conditioned room costs around Php 5,000 per night, has a queen size bed, a (approx.) 42" LCD TV, and a 2-door inverter ref that has a good selection of refreshments so you don't need to go elsewhere in case you get thirsty.

Make sure you request for the room on the second floor to get a perfect view of the sunset.

Or you can find your own spot anywhere in the resort.

As for the food, you can request whatever you like and they'll cook it for you. Trust me, Joanna cooks real good! Her specialties are Thai, Western, and of course, Filipino dishes. During our stay, she prepared seafood for dinner and typical Filipino favorites for breakfast.

Sari-sari stores, however, are nowhere to be found near the resort. You have to take a 10 to 15-minute tricycle ride to bayan so make sure you bring everything you'll need, including chips or whatever for late night snacks.

The resort also has several activities in store for the customers. Since the waters are kind of shallow, the owners have managed to come up with these brilliant and fun activities to enjoy. And the best part is, they're all for FREE, including the lifesavers, life vests, and snorkles! Just give a tip to the kuyas who'll be helping you out. :)
