Kris Bernal relates FHM bashings to her role in Impostora


In a rare opportunity, fans get to spend an afternoon with Kris Bernal to celebrate her birthday with them at Karaoke Pop in Cubao. But before all the bonding and singing with her followers, we get a chance to talk to Kris about the latest happenings on her. 

Currently, Kris is busy on her new soap, Impostora. A remake of GMA's 2007 series of the same title that starred Iza Calzado and Sunshine Dizon, Impostora is about the twins Nympha and Rosette. Nympha is the not-so-goodlooking one but has a good heart while Rosette is the self-centered other half. 





Being judged of her looks, Kris shared that she can very much relate to Nympha's character because of, what she considers, her most bashed photos. In her May cover of the men's magazine, FHM, Kris got a lot of negative comments because of her slim physique. Admittedly, she said that, during the shoot, she was really slim because she had to diet in preparation for the pictorial. Imagine, from her usual 22-inch waistline, it went down to just 18 inches. Well, her body built is really small to begin with so she just brushed away comments like being anorexic. And to all those who are just concerned for her, Kris assures that she's healthy and she's trying to gain back what she lost for the shoot.




Now that she's already 28, Kris can already decide on her own. "Yun FHM, kung sinabi nilang gusto nila and ayaw ko, aayawan ko talaga. Kasi gusto ko may karapatan na 'kong magdictate ng life ko or to control my own life and own path. My own journey," she said. Doing the FHM cover for her is to show everyone that she's a grown up now, bidding goodbye to the sweet charming image and saying hello to a more daring Kris Bernal.

A year after he launched his first single, Pusong Hindi Makatulog, Mikoy Morales is back with yet another heartwarming song that anyone, in one way or another, can very much relate to. Entitled SANA, the song is about someone who has gone through a breakup and still hoping that things get sorted out in time.

Mikoy launched his second single through an intimate gig held at the Conspiracy Garden Cafe in Quezon City. In a quick chat after his performance, he admitted that he wrote the song during the time he and Thea Tolentino broke up some time last year. Listening to every word of his latest single, it's pretty much obvious how affected he was on how their relationship ended up that time. Now though, he and Thea are very much in good terms again he clarified. 





During the launch, he also sang his first single that was released last year entitled Pusong Hindi Makatulog.





On Mikoy's chosen music genre...

His music may not be the mainstream's favorite but nothing's stopping him from doing what he loves to do. He had already made songs that were used in some of GMA's shows but his heart really goes to the indie type of music. Though he admits that his chosen genre isn't really for everyone to appreciate, he believes that,  more than anything, artists like him should continue doing what they really love. "Brand or know your music. Mag-click man o hindi, pero genuinely sa'yo yun", he said.

Over 80,000 women's lives have changed and many more are yet to happen as Coca-Cola continues to empower micro-entrepreneurs through the Coca-Cola Sari-Sari Store Training and Access to Resources (STAR) Program.

Coca-Cola Philippines launched the STAR Program in 2011, in line with the 5by20 global initiative of The Coca-Cola Company to economically empower 5 million women within its value chain by 2020.

The Coca-Cola 5by20 STAR Program was implemented in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The STAR Program is designed for women micro-entrepreneurs who own and manage sari-sari stores or carinderias. The Program hopes to address the barriers these women face by helping them achieve business success. The STAR Program has three components: access to training, access to resources, and access to peer mentoring.

To date, the STAR Program has 390 accredited facilitators teaching and training women retailers to become better entrepreneurs. The Program is being implemented in over 47 locations nationwide and has reached more than 80,000 women.

Aside from TESDA, partners also include Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, Alay sa Kaunlaran, Inc. (ASKI), First Community Cooperative (FICCO), Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation, Inc. (NWTF), ASA Philippines, and National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO).
