Everyday is a cheat day at Karnitas Korner

“If you don’t treat yourself, you cheat yourself”

Located within the residential area, Karnitas Korner decided to put up the restaurant away from the hub for the simple reason that it is already saturated.

Mr. Bayon Alcoseba, one of the owners of Karnitas Korner, gave us a brief background on how they started. He was based in Jakarta, Indonesia back then when they conceptualized the restaurant. With porchetta and other proteins as the main item of most of their dishes, they played around with the word “carne” and used K instead to make it look and sound more Filipino. For the second word, they thought of something that would perfectly jive with the first one, hence adding Korner to the restaurant’s name.

THE PLACE

Even before you enter the restaurant, you will already notice the beautiful wall mural around the place that was was based on the restaurant’s logo and personally designed by their Spanish muralist friend, Cesar Caballero. With the design, music, and ambiance of the restaurant, you will be taken to a totally different place the moment you enter it.

THE FOOD

Executive Chef Jack talked about the different dishes you’ll find in their menu. According to her, the difference of porchetta from lechon is that it’s heavily seasoned with herbs and spices. With it being the main item in the restaurant, they serve it with pasta, salad, gourmet sandwiches, or even over rice.
PORCHETTA (por'ketta) is a savory, fatty, and moist boneless roast pork. Rooting from an Italian culiary tradition where the pork loin is arranged carefully with layers of stuffing - meat, fat, crispy skin and garlic, rosemary, fennel, or other herbs, it is then rolled and roasted, traditionally over wood.
I know summer is the season to be fit to wear sexy clothes and show off a good physique. But what's the best way to treat yourself if not with porchetta! We, Filipinos, love lechon so much that it's always present in almost any occasion. Porchetta is like the Italian version of our lechon

During the launch, we were taken to a gastronomic journey of different flavors as we try out their different meals. I love my food sweet and spicy and, luckily, I found it in most of the dishes served to us.

Let me show you first MY FAVES...

POUTINE
Fries, homemade cheese sauce, gravy, jalapeños, sweet longganisa
Php 125
I never knew that cheese sauce and gravy would make a perfect combination. I loved it! And I also love how it complements with the spiciness of the jalapeños and the subtle sweetness of the longganisa.

BRAISED PULLED BEEF SHORT RIBS
Slow-cooked pulled beef, caramelized onions, cucumbers, mango barbecue sauce
Php 185

This is one of my favorites because it tastes like pares (at least for me). Apologies, though, for the shot. I'm just too excited to try it that I forgot to take a picture of how it looks inside. Just trust me, it is delicious!

CHOCO CHIP COOKIES (Php 30) & CRANBERRY OATMEAL COOKIE (Php 70)

I just love chocolates. And their choco chip cookies got big chunks of chocolates which makes it better than any other cookies you'll find out there.

So those are the items that's on top of my list. Here are some other dishes that you might wanna try on your visit:

PORCHETTA NACHOS
Tex-Mex Cheese sauce with Porchetta bits, mango salsa, and sliced jalapeños

Php 135
PORCHETTA TACOS
Porchetta, herb-roasted corn slaw, crispy pork rinds, sweet chilli sauce, with chipotle sour cream on the side.
Php 185
MAPLE & SUNDRIED CITRUS CHICKEN
Grilled chicken in mape and sundried-citrus marinade, plum tomatoes, baby arugula, roasted sesame sauce
Php 185
PORCHETTA SANDWICH
Oven-roasted pork loin, salsa verde, crispy pork rinds on fresh ciabatta bread
Php 185
PORCHETTA RICE
Succulent pork loin oven-roasted to perfection with pesto sauce, cabbages, and poached egg
Php 185
Porchetta Rice is best eaten when mixed up altogether
You may find some of the items a bit pricey but with the looks of it, their servings are quite generous that it's actually perfect for sharing.

So, forget about your diet, at least just for once, because every dish in Karnitas Korner is worth a try! You can burn all the fats after a delectable meal anyway.
