Mark Herras Shares His Experiences As A Gay Hairdresser in Conan My Beautician

Mark Herras shared his experience as a beautician in his latest series, Conan My Beautician.

In the series, he plays the role of Conan, son of a famous barber in their province but, due to circumstances, he had to go elsewhere and pretend to be a gay beautician to be able to work. In Salon Paz, where he became the most talented beautician, he is joined by some of the best Kapuso comedians including Betong Sumaya (Mimi The Hugot Queen), Jerald Napoles (Greg The Paminta), Boobsie (Debbie The Babaeng Bakla), and Tetay (Pia The Kontesera). He later on met the character of Megan Young (Ava) and, eventually, fell in love with her. As the story develops, he then finds himself struggling expressing himself as Megan knows him as gay.

Conan My Beautician is Mark Herras’ first full comedy series. Aside from being dressed as a girl with full makeup and all, one of the challenges that Mark faced in doing the series is how he can keep up with the comedians he’s working with. With his co-stars used to doing impromptu comedy acts, he had to think quick or he’ll be left out. He’s actually grateful that Direk Adolf gives them the liberty to do their thing even if it’s not in the script. Mark admitted that he is also open to advices and criticisms from Direk and his co-stars.

Conan My Beautician airs on Kapuso network every Sunday afternoon. The comedy series also stars Cacai Bautista, Lotlot De Leon, Jay Manalo, Balang, Chlaui, Vangie Labalan, and Antonette Garcia and is directed by Adolf Alix Jr.
