All in One Up: The First Major Concert of GMA's boyband group - One Up

One Up boys will finally hold their first major concert this coming August!

Since they were launched in 2016, the One Up boys have been very busy with their Boardwalk concert series, out of town shows, and TV guestings, which greatly helped hone their talents as artists and performers. We've been seeing them performing on TV or mall shows as a group and in their first major concert, dubbed as "All in One Up", the boys promised to showcase their individual talents as well.

Something new that you'll notice in their performances is that the group are also divided into two to be able to showcase their strengths as a performer - the singers and the dancers. And there's so much more about these boys other than just singing and dancing. That's what you will find out in their upcoming concert.

"All in One Up" concert, produced by Glon Prestige Productions, is happening on August 24 at the Skydome. Catch the One Up boys - Kevin Sagra, Nikki Co, Brent Valdez, Joemarie Nielsen, Arjan Jimenez, Ralf King, Prince Clemente, Yasser Marta, Jay Arcilla, and Dave Bornea - share the stage with their fellow Kapuso artists Migo Adecer, Karlo Duterte, Sofia Pablo, Will Ashley, and Andrea Torres in this one night only concert you shouldn't miss!

Tickets are now available for purchase at SMTickets.com.

Experience Modern Eurasian Cuisine in Akrotiri

They say food transports you to places. Every destination has their own cuisine to offer. Each dish has its distinct taste and look that either brings back good old memories or probably just takes you to its origin. I haven't been to Greece nor any of the European/Mediterranean countries, and I can't even remember the last time I've had a Greek or Mediterranean food. Having said that, I honestly am clueless on what to expect in my recent trip to this newest restaurant in the South.

Akrotiri, one of the newest restaurants in Alabang, introduces the modern Eurasian cuisine to the Philippine food scene. During the VIP Bloggers' Night, we were taken to a gastronomic journey and tried some of the best Eurasian dishes Akrotiri has to offer.

As Akrotiri's General Manager David Jones puts it, "Akrotini’s offerings reflect the Mediterranean classics, mainly Greek and other European influences but at the same time, we’ve localized the taste to create a new flavor. One can call it ‘fusion’, but we feel that ‘EurAsian’ highlights what we represent—an amalgamation of influences that have strong ties with the Philippine food culture."

To help you understand further on what to expect in your visit in Akrotiri, let me show you what this restaurant has to offer...

Grilled Squid Stuffed with Feta Foam
Grilled Squid Stuffed with Feta Foam (Php 550)

This one's a fave! Well, I love squid to begin with, but that feta foam inside the smokey grilled squid definitely changed the game. It surely adds a different flavor and twist to the usual Filipino-style grilled squid we grew up to. I didn't get to try the Black Ink Risotto though but I'm sure it's equally good and perfectly compliments the squid.

Watermelon Salad (Php 350)

With various flavors and textures in one dish, this Watermelon Salad is also a good starter for a delectable meal. It's got feta cheese, lettuce, watermelon, and walnuts drizzled with balsamic dressing.

Wagyu Skirt Steak
Wagyu Steak (Php 900)

Another must-try dish in Akrotiri is their Wagyu Steak. It's topped with Spicy Chilli Jam and comes with roasted vegetables too. The meat is so tender and tasty, I can finish two servings in one sitting.

Other than those above, Akrotiri also offers few other dishes that will surely entice your taste buds. Here are just some of their most recommended items in the menu:

Salmon fillet with Tzatziki-wasabi dressing & fried rice

Seafood Tagliatelle with clams, mussels, prawns, squid, and tomatoes

Chocolate Garden Mosaiko (Php 450)

All these mouthwatering dishes are co-conceptualized by Chef Luca Maffei. An Italian chef with intricate taste to flavours and fusion, Chef Luca masterfully re-imagined Akrotiri’s food, bringing the blissful flavours of Asia and Euro-Greek cultures to our local cuisine.

Weaving together the different flavors found on different coastal food cultures all over the world and presenting them as delicious gastronomic offerings makes Akrotiri a unique destination that delivers an exciting culinary experience that will surely indulge every type of Filipino diner.

Soban K-Town Grill

K-pop has truly taken the world by storm as a lot has already been influenced by anything Korean - from music, fashion, skin care, to food. And speaking of food, we had the chance to try this newest Korean restaurant in Robinsons Place Manila in Ermita. Soban K-Town Grill serves unique Korean-Mexican dishes other than the usual you've probably tried in some other Korean restaurants out there.

During our visit, we had their Premium BBQ Combo Set, which is already good for a group for 3-4 persons. The set comes with 180g USDA Choice Premium Marinated Beef, 180g Pork Belly, 180g Boneless Fried Chicken, 1 Japchae, 1 Pajeon, 1 Egg Casserole, 1 Half Gimbap, 4 unlimited kimchi fried rice, soup, and side dishes.

The Kimchi Fried Rice already has this quite strong but not-so-spicy taste so better pair it with the non-marinated meat because it might just overpower those barbecue-flavored meat. Still depends on your preference though. The caramelized Boneless Fried Chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Kimchi side dish is good and well-seasoned. It's crispy and it's not that spicy. I'm used to putting gravy on my mashed potato but theirs doesn't need it at all. Their mashed potato has corns and raisins that kind of mixed together adding flavor to it. They also have other side dishes like the peanut and anchovies and kangkong but there's really nothing special to it. As for the meat, their beef hanger steak is my fave! It's a bit sweet and really tender - just don't overcook it. For the pork belly, you can choose up to 2 flavors but I suggest you get at least one serving of the regular/plain pork belly. The side dishes will add flavor to your bite anyway when you mix it all together. I tried the flavored one and it tastes like tocino for me. It's their bestseller according to them so might as well give it a try.

Kimchi Fries is basically french fries topped with cheese, roasted pork bits, and kimchi. I love anything with kimchi so I'll be biased. This one's really good and they're quite generous with the toppings. I find it quite pricey though at P199 per serving.

Japchae

Gimbap

Coffee Crepe

Hey, they also serve beers!

All these are priced at P2,200. There may be some Korean buffet restaurants that offer the same at a much cheaper price but the ambiance, good service, and the quality of the food is what sets Soban apart from the rest.

Does this post make you crave for Korean food? Go ahead and visit Soban K-Town Grill at Robinsons Place Manila. You can also find them in Eastwood Mall, Greenbelt 3, ATC Corporate Center, and SM City North EDSA.

10 Ways to Jumpstart a Healthier, Happier Digestive System

The world’s leading digestive health products— Essentiale® Forte P and Dulcolax®— join hands in a campaign to make our digestive systems happier and healthier. Together, the two brands take action on World Digestive Health Day on May 29th, reminding people about the importance of keeping their digestive system happy and healthy.

So how do you keep your gut healthy and happy? Let us count the ways:
  1. Junk the junk. Avoid eating processed foods (chips, cold cuts), breads and pastas.

  2. Go for gold. Probiotic foods feed the good bacteria in your digestive tract. So what should you go for? A plant-based diet would be good. If not, make sure you have more nuts and seeds in your diet. Check out pistachios, bananas, garlic, onion, wheat, oats, quinoa, millet and chia.

  3. Avoid unnecessary drinking of antibiotics. Taking antibiotics may have a negative effect on the bacteria and other microbes living in your intestines. Antibiotics may kill healthy bacteria. Before taking antibiotics, ask your doctor questions about then and do some research. Get a second opinion if possible and don’t self-medicate.

  4. Keep your liver in check. Instead of steaks and fried chicken, opt for taking in less fats from your food as these can lead to having too much fat stored in the liver. A fatty liver is a sign of an unhealthy digestive system and will affect your entire health. Keep your liver in check with Essentiale® Forte P. It contains essential phospholipids that repair damaged liver cell membrane, regenerate lost phospholipids and restore normal functions of the liver, keeping your liver healthy for a happy digestive system.

  5. Take a good probiotic. Probiotics are micro-organisms that provide health benefits when consumed. Probiotics help with digestion and stimulate the immune system. They rebuild intestinal flora for better digestive health for kids. It also stops diarrhea symptoms and addresses other intestinal issues. Consult your doctor to learn more about the benefits of Probiotics!

  6. Water is important. Hydration is the key to having a healthy digestive system. Constipation is often the result of dehydration in the colon. Drinking at least 8 16-oz glasses of water a day will ensure that your stool will be soft and easy to pass.

  7. Taking a laxative helps. Frequent constipation is a sign that your digestive system is in poor health. If you haven’t moved your bowels in days, don’t just suffer. Dulcolax® stimulates bowel movement and softens hard dry stool to treat constipation and other bowel irregularities. Dulcolax®, the world’s No. 1 laxative4, ensures you have a happy tummy ensures that you’ll have a happy tummy in the morning.

  8. You’ve got to move it. Regular exercises like brisk walking or running will get things moving, so to speak. Allot at least 10 minutes a day to exercise. Make it 15 mins daily if you can.

  9. Chill, don’t stress. Your work life is stressful enough; find time to chill and relax. Don’t bring work home. Find little pockets of relaxation throughout the day. For instance, when it gets to be too much, do some breathing exercises for a few minutes. Stress can affect the health of your digestive system.

  10. Get enough sleep. If eight hours of sleep is not doable, make sure you get six hours every night. Lack of sleep can cause gas and poor digestion.

If you build and maintain a healthy and happy digestive system, your quality of life will be better, too. If you skip the bad habits and embrace the good ones, you will have less health issues and a healthier, happier life! Make sure you regularly consult your doctor if you feel any symptoms.

Why is Changing Partners considered a hugot musical?

The award-winning musical-turned-movie, Changing Partners, will have a re-staging and it's gonna be bigger and different!

Changing Partners is actually a personal experience of the writer, Vincent de Jesus. It all started out with a story about a gay couple that eventually evolved, which made up this entire complex-looking storyline. Well to clarify, the storyline isn't really as complicated as you think as the actors put it. It's basically a single story told from different perspectives - straight couple, gay/lesbian couple, same age generation, and a May-December love affair. Now, that alone makes this production even more interesting to see.

During a quick chat with the people behind this successful production, we are to expect some changes on the piece for their fourth run - from the music, set design , to the way the actors take their roles, and applying some learnings they've had after doing the movie last year.

Changing Partners will have a limited run at PETA Theater Center on May 11, 12, 13, 19, and 20. Get your tickets now at Ticketworld!

Let's discuss about LOVE...

Changing Partners is considered to be a "hugot" piece of art that surely everyone can relate to. Love is a one thing that each and everyone experience regardless of the preference and status. So, why a "hugot" musical you ask? Listed here are some of the quotes I picked up during our conversation with the cast and creators as they shared their own experiences and learnings - be it personal or through the course of making this musical:
  • It is easier for younger people to fall in love because they're not as jaded as the older ones yet
  • Older ones has a timeframe/deadline. Sayang 'yung nasa end ka na ng edad mo, tapos ang haba ng relationship, kapag nag-end, sad ka ulet. Mas masakit yun
  • Throw all caution to the wind. Kung in love ka, in love ka na lang
  • Kahit handa ka masaktan, it doesn't make the pain lesser. You just have to go through it.
  • From the OST: Kung 'di mo sya kilala, madali kang maniniwala sa mga kwento n'yang akala mo'y totoo
  • From the OST: 'Yung pakiramdam na gusto mong yakapin pero nasasakal. Itutulak ka, 'di raw s'ya makahinga.
  • (For those who have failed relationships) Pick up the pieces and move on. Kapit lang!
  • (For the millenials) Panoorin 'nyo para maisip 'nyo na dapat unahin 'nyo muna ang sarili 'nyo
  • Relationship is a serious thing. You need to commit, you need to share, you need to be there all the time.
  • Kung sa tingin mo hindi ka pa ready, don't enter that relationship.
Agree or you think otherwise? Let's have a discussion in the comments section below.

Kapuso Hunks are setting the stage on fire in Oh, Boy! and Oh, LOL! concert

A night full of laughter and sexiness - a promise that Oh, BOY! & Oh, LOL! leaves to all who are looking forward to this sexy comedy concert this May.

SEXY

A sexy comedy concert wouldn't be considered as such without the sexy part right? Adding spice to this one-night-only concert are Kapuso hunks Rocco Nacino, Derrick Monasterio, Jak Roberto, and One Up's Dave Bornea, who are all ready to set the Music Museum stage on fire with their hot performances.

Most of you know that these guys already got great bods, right? But during an interview, these hunks shared that they have even doubled their efforts just to be at their perfect form in time for their concert. Sexiness for these gents, however, doesn't just mean showing skin. In the concert, they'll show sexiness through their wits and talents.

Being part of the first batch of Oh Boy! hunks, Rocco shared that this time around, the show is going to be different. From the title alone, we can definitely expect a more fun and exciting show. How will they incorporate fun in sexiness though? That's mainly the job of the Kapuso comedians who will be joining them on stage.

FUN &LAUGHTER

Joining these Kapuso hunks are two of GMA's top comedian personalities - Donita Nose and Tekla. Their tandem became an instant hit when they appeared in Willie Revillame's Wowowin and we can't deny that fact even after their short stint in the afternoon variety show.

In their upcoming concert, Donita Nose and Tekla will complete the viewers' experience as they throw their witty jokes and hilarious punch lines while staying clean and wholesome for all the millenials who are going to see the show. If you've seen their acts during their comedy bar days, you'll know that this show's gonna be a riot!

As Rocco puts it, Oh, Boy! & Oh, LOL! is going to be a night of full laughter and sexiness that will leave people drooling after seeing the show. Book your tickets now and have fun on May 18, 2018 at the Music Museum in Greenhills.
