Arbol de Fuego is a mere showcase of acting prowess from such an undoubtedly great ensemble.
Led by the award-winning actress, Cherie Gil, Arbol de Fuego is a Filipino adaptation of Anton Chekhov's Cherry Orchard. It's a story about a hacienda matriarch who went back from Madrid to face one of the most difficult trials in her life, the seizing of their beloved estate to pay for the family's debt.
In a TV interview, Gil said that it is her first time to do a play in Filipino language and admitted that she had a bit of a challenge doing as all of her plays are in English. It did show in some of her lines but, hey, Cherie Gil is still THE Cherie Gil. She, along with the entire cast, really did a great job! With everyone being so sentimental, you can really feel how hard and painful it is to lose something that's been so memorable and had been a witness to all the joys, trials and hardships that the family had gone through. Despite the very dramatic plot, I love how the team were able to integrate comedy in some of the lines subtly delivered by each character.
