Seems like a lot of Filipinos cannot handle the summer heat that we’re experiencing recently. Based on reports, 5 to 10 patients are being brought to the hospitals due to heat stroke since last month.

Philippines’ Department of Health previously released an advisory about this case.

Here are some other tips on how we can avoid heat stroke:

  • If possible, avoid going out between 12nn – 3pm.
  • Always bring an umbrella with you
  • Avoid wearing dark-colored shirts
  • Always drink plenty of fluids. Ice-cold water is just perfect for this season!
  • Avoid drinking too much alcohol, coffee, or tea as these may lead to dehydration
  • Cold compress/ice packs to cool down body temperature.
  • Spend more time when taking a bath. These days, I just love staying under the shower. If you have enough time and budget, you may visit nearby resorts for a swim. You can also find inflatable pools on sale in malls. Not only will you have privacy, you can also enjoy this everyday without paying for resort entrance fees!
