Recently, we’ve seen snippets of the Miss Saigon 25th Anniversary Gala performance that went viral on the internet. Miss Saigon has been very close to the hearts of the Filipinos because a lot of talents were discovered and recognized through this musical. In fact, Lea Salonga won the Olivier for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical for the 1989-1990 season. She also won awards from Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and the Theatre World.
Now on its 25th year, Miss Saigon made a big comeback in West End. As expected, bunch of Filipino actors were chosen to be part of the West End Revival cast like Eva Noblezada (Kim), Rachelle Ann Go (Gigi), and Jon Jon Briones (Engineer) to name a few. In celebration, the audience were surprised with performances from the original cast led by Lea Salonga.
Here’s a sneak peak of the 25th Anniversary Gala Finale performance:
Lea’s all smiles as Rachelle Ann Go belts out her part on the song, The Movie in My Mind. I’ve been seeing really good reviews on her performance and this one just proves it.
And I can feel how proud Lea is of her…
It’s so good to see two of our great talents perform on international stage and receive such overwhelming reaction from the crowd.
The original Kim (Lea Salonga) & Chris (Simon Bowman) reunited on stage to perform The Last Night of the World.
And they were joined by this year’s Kim and Chris, Eva Noblezada and Alistair Brammer.
Of course, Miss Saigon won’t be complete without the Engineer. Jonathan Pryce, the original Engineer, together with this year’s Engineer, Jon-Jon Briones, performs The American Dream.
And the entrance of
The brilliant minds behind Miss Saigon: Claude-Michel Schönberg , Alain Boublil, and Cameron Mackintosh.
And without further ado, here’s the complete video of Miss Saigon’s 25th Anniversary Gala performance. Enjoy!
