Rak is back mga ka-baranggay!!!
Oh yes! The very successful all-Filipino musical, Rak of Aegis, is going back onstage for their sixth re-run. If you have not seen at least one show from the past five seasons, you should know that you're missing the fun! They wouldn't reach this far and people wouldn't be asking for more if it's just nothing, right?
Just like the lead character in the musical, Aileen, there are so many talented Filipinos that are aspiring to pursue their dreams and be successful in the entertainment world. We have so much reality shows on TV and everyday, we discover great talents that are truly world-class.
As they prepare for yet another much-anticipated re-run this year, the people behind Rak has thought of a brilliant idea. Why not make the story of Aileen a reality? Months ago, PETA has launched an online reality search for new talents who will be joining this year's run of the musical. Dubbed as Hu Got Talent: The Search for the Next Rakstar, hundreds of hopefuls submitted their video entries and the lucky Top 20 underwent intensive workshop where they experienced how it is to be part of "Rak".
The list was further trimmed down and the Lucky 9 who will be joining the cast were finally introduced during the press launch held last May 22 in PETA Theater Center.
Let's meet and get to know the new cast members of Rak of Aegis:
SHAIRA OPSIMAR, Aileen
Role: Aileen
Theater Experiences: The King and I, Grease, The Sound of Music
Trivia: Shaira joined The Voice and the Philippines Season 2 and she's also a multi-medalist and division winner in the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA)
Princess Vire, Aileen
Role: Aileen
Theater Experiences: Into The Woods, Annie
Trivia: Princess is a multi-medalist and division winner in the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), and was a contender at It's Showtime's Tawag ng Tanghalan.
Kent Pontivedra, Tolits
Role: Tolits
Theater Experiences: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Coat
Trivia: Kent is considered as a real life Tolits. He's a graduate of Tourism Management from the International School of HRM School System while working as a Stock Clerk in SM and Sales Specialist for WOW Videoke. He has also joined quite a number of local competitions including Eat Bulaga's Just Duet, It's Showtime's Tawag ng Tanghalan, and Century Tuna Superbods Ageless.
Adrian Lindayag, Jewel
Role: Jewel
Theater Experiences: Rent
Trivia: Adrian was part of GMA 7's "Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman" from 2013 to 2016 and guested in GMA's "Pyra: Ang Babaeng Apoy". He also worked as a full time celebrity stylist in 2016.
Remus Villanueva, Kenny
Role: Kenny
Theater Experiences: Aurelio Sedisyoso, Solomon
Trivia: Remus has been doing theater since 2008. He's also a Theater Arts Moderator in Bloomfield Academy in Las Pinas, and a Theater Arts Program Head in Bulacan State University's College of Arts and Letters.
Marielle Mamaclay, Ensemble
Role: Ensemble
Theater Experiences: The Sound of Music
Trivia: Marielle is the band leader of the all-Filipino Pop Vocal Group, 5th Gen, and is also a mentor for the Euro Talent Festival Team Philippines. She's also bagged the Senior Grand Champion Vocalist and Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World awards at the prestigious World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA).
Gil "Chamyto" Aguedan, Ensemble
Role: Ensemble
Theater Experiences: -
Trivia: Gil worked as a Gondolier at the Venetian Macau Hotel from 2012 to 2016. He's also appeared in GMA shows "Karelasyon" and "Wagas", and in the online series "Finding Clickton".
Matel Patayon, Ensemble
Role: Ensemble
Theater Experiences: Himala: Isang Musikal, Sakuntala: Ang Singsing ng Kapalaran
Trivia: Matel is a Comm Arts graduate from UP Los Banos. She earned an honorable mention for Best Actress citation from Gibbs Cadiz of Inquirer for her role in Sakuntala. She also voiced Suzy in ABS-CBN's "I Am Not A Robot".
Crystal Paras, Ensemble
Role: Ensemble
Theater Experiences: Performed in various theater companies like Repertory Philippines, Atlantis Productions, and Trumpets
Trivia: Crystal previously joined Eat Bulaga's Music Hero - Vocal. Aged 20, she's also the youngest addition to the "Rak of Aegis" cast.
