Karylle's Latest Album, "A Different Playground", Is Now Out In The Market

Karylle has just recently launched her latest album under PolyEast Records entitled "A Different Playground" in Eastwood City.

During the press conference, Karylle revealed that she wrote most of the songs in her album. She was also vocal about the "pressure" of having a musician-songwriter-band vocalist husband and admitted that, in a good way, she has to keep up. According to her, it's easier for her to create songs now that they already have a studio at home.

A Different Playground, as she compared with her past albums, shows her playful side as a person, songwriter, and performer. As described by Yael, Karylle's style of writing is like a stream of consciousness. It's like anything goes. No definite structure. It's just her being silly and creative at the same time.

One of the songs that she wrote for the album is the upbeat track "Can't Shut Up" inspired by his husband Yael who loves to talk and is a big storyteller according to her. She also showed her versatility in the songs "Half A Million" and "Sunny Daze".

Karylle also collaborated with some artists in her latest album. She has worked with her childhood friend, Robin Nievera, for the song "Sunflowers". She also included the song "Magbalik Ka Na Mahal", which she sang in the musical Rama Hari where she played as the female lead Sita. The song was composed by no less than Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and Bienvenido Lumbera. Others songs in the album include Kiko Salazar's "Baliktanaw", Tito Cayamanda's "Paano Ko Tuturuan ang Puso", and the classic song "Tenderly".

In this album, Karylle is also introducing her new band, The Passport Holders. The band is composed of musical director and saxophonist Alvin Cornista, bassist Piox Asparen, guitarist Edwin Dimaranan, and drummer Chris Cantada.

A Different Playground is now out in the market and is also available in iTunes, SpinnrPh, Amazon, and Deezer.

PETA Summer Program 2016

The last time I set my foot on stage as an actor was decades ago. When I got an email from PETA about a 1-day workshop, I didn't think twice! Never had it crossed my mind that I'll get to experience a workshop with a well-known theater group in the country. I got really excited as I get to do what I've been missing doing!

Our day started with a tour inside the PETA Theater Center located in Quezon City. John and Ada gave us an introduction on what PETA is. Founded by Cecile Guidote Alvarez, PETA has been in the industry for almost 50 years now and is really doing a great job in promoting Philippine society and culture through their productions. I remember I've undergone a brief workshop with her years ago when I was chosen to be part of a presentation during an Earth Day celebration.

They also toured us inside the set of their ongoing production, 3 Stars And A Sun. The show narrates what our country has been through and issues that we are still facing up until now through a futuristic storyline integrating the patriotic masterpieces of The Master Rapper, Francis Magalona.

PETA's 3 Stars And A Sun will run until March 6, 2016 at the PETA Theater Center.

Following the tour is an experience I would never forget! PETA gave us a first-hand experience on how they do their workshops. Every summer, PETA opens a workshop to the public who wants to explore the world of theater arts.

We started up with an activity to loosen up and tapped the inner child in each of the participants. We had a game-like activity that let's us interact with the group. It was our first time to meet so it's a great way to start the workshop. It was then followed by an activity that helped us familiarize each other's name. I really enjoyed it because, instead of just plainly memorizing the names of everyone, we have to call out someone's name by showing different emotions from the given scenarios. After the getting-to-know activity, we did the human tableau where we have to pose as objects that can be found inside a room assigned to us. And lastly, again we were given a scenario where we have to act as trees - cut down, replanted, and grew up so high as if it wanted to touch the sky (hence, the image below). We really had a great time and the activities we did instantly create a bond amongst us that only met that day. Overall, our 1-day workshop is indeed a fun learning experience. If fun isn't what you're seeing in the picture below, then I don't know what that is.

Ruru Madrid and Gabbi Garcia stars in GMA's newest show, Naku Boss Ko

The lovely onscreen couple, Ruru Madrid and Gabbi Garcia, better known as GabRu, is finally back with a new show in the Kapuso network. In time for the upcoming Presidential elections, GMA News and Public Affairs is producing a new poli-rom-com series that is set to be aired on the last week of April to first week of May. The show is a political satire that is embedded on a romantic comedy that aims to promote voters' education.

Entitled Naku Boss Ko, Kapuso network's newest series is about two star-crossed lovers from competing affiliations and opposing economic status fight for love and for what they believe in during a contentious election season. Will their love drown in the pile up of mudslinging or will it rise above the fray and prove love conquers all?

Ruru Madrid plays the role of a rich kid whose father is politically ambitious and Gabbi Garcia, on the other hand, plays an activist from an urban poor family. Joining them are Arianne Bautista, Mr. Leo Martinez, and Ms. Tessie Tomas.

I found it on Galleon.PH!

I love shopping! Really. That's why you'll notice a lot of my posts here are about sale or promos. And lately, I have been fond of getting items online. Aside from the convenience of doing it anywhere you are anytime you want, you get to skip the heavy traffic, bunch of people in shopping malls, hours of walking and (sometimes) long lines in the cashier.

I've already tried a lot of online shopping sites in the country. However, there are still items that I badly want yet only available outside of the country. And yes, I've also tried buying items from eBay and Amazon. Downside of shopping from sites outside the Philippines is that (1) they do not offer shipping here, (2) shipping fee costs too much, or worse, (3) there are additional fees that I need to pay on top of the shipping fee. Though some items are way cheaper from other countries, there are some instances too that I even paid almost a quarter of the actual price of the item I got! (Does anyone know how the Customs come up with the fees and taxes?)

Anyway. So I came across with this new site called Galleon (not sure if it's really new but I just learned about this now) that offers products shipped from abroad. They pretty much have a wide selection of items from electronics, apparel, health and beauty products, books, sports and outdoors, books and supplies, and a lot more! In all fairness, most of the items I've seen as I browsed through the site is really not available in some of the top online shopping sites in the country. Here are some of the items that I've been wanting to get:

I have been looking for a waterproof case for my Galaxy Note 5 but am unlucky finding one. The Ghostek Atomic 2.0 case is made of strong aluminum alloy bumper, a heavy-duty scratch resistant touch sensitive screen guard, rubber for non-slip grip and protect port openings, and polycarbonate film seals. It's not just a waterproof case. It's also dust-proof, snow-proof (nice to have but is no use here haha), mud-proof, and shockproof. It's got good reviews in Youtube too!

LightInTheBox Chandelier

I have been wanting to get a new chandelier for my living room that will fit perfectly with my theme. I have first seen this one in eBay and I was kind of hesitant to buy it because, again, I'm afraid that customs will overcharge me for this item. I also tried looking for it in malls but I can't find this exact item (if you happen to have seen this anywhere, PLEASE let me know where so I can check it out).

Cyxus Round Portable Mini Spot Self Fill Light Spotlight

Woot! What are the odds that I'll find this item here when we were just wondering last night where to get one! I attended a friend's party last in one of the bars in BGC and we were struggling taking selfies because it's kind of dark inside. We're using another phone for lighting so it's a bit hassle for the one taking the picture holding two phones at the same time. Then one of the guests brought out this mini round spot light and clipped it on the phone we're using. Yeah, we were amazed because it's our first time to see one!haha This sure does come in handy especially for selfie addicts!

After browsing through Galleon.PH and familiarizing myself with the site, here are the things I loved about it:
  • Prices are all-inclusive and they take care of shipping, customs and taxes.

Yes, no more surprise and hidden charges! Before you checkout, you'll immediately see everything you have to pay.
  • Ships nationwide and delivers via air (6-12 business days) and sea (35-40 business days)

This I've got to see when I make my first purchase.
  • Has efficient customer care. With that, buying and shipping of items not on their website can be requested.

I had a really good experience with their support! I was checking the prices of some items and wanted to make sure that what I'm seeing from my end is real. When I checked the price of Ghostek, it shows in the product page "+ International Shipping" and there are two options: via Air (Php229) and via Sea (Php100). Thinking that prices are all-inclusive, I find the prices shown in the page really cheap. So I had to chat with one of their agents to verify the prices. The agent I talked to is really nice and he even offered to call me to make sure all things are clear. See screenshot below:

For everyone's information, the price you see in the checkout page is the final amount you have to pay. That's it! I checked out other items after our chat and the shipping varies depending on the size of the item you're getting.
  • Has multiple payment modes.

They accept payments through BDO (bank and online deposit), BPI (bank and online deposit), Dragonpay, and Paypal. Although they accept bank deposits,  I hope they can also add Cash on Delivery so shoppers (without credit/debit cards) don't need to go to banks anymore.
  • Has a “Ship My Item” feature where in Galleon.ph act as a PO box service but you don’t get charged shipping fee by the box but on the item itself.

This is another service that sets Galleon.ph apart from other online shopping sites. You can ship an item from the US to Galleon's address in US. You will get a quote based on the size or dimension of the item and not by the box. Shipping cost starts at Php208. For more info about this feature, click here.
The next time you are buying items from the US, you might want to check Galleon.PH. For more updates, you may follow their social media accounts:
