SkyRanch Date With Danaya: Who is Sanya Lopez?

Who is Sanya Lopez?

As soon as the Encantadia remake cast were announced last month, almost everyone was like "Who is Sanya Lopez?"

EDnything_SkyRanch Date With Danaya_33

We spent a day with Sanya at SkyRanch in Tagaytay and had a rare chance of getting to know her more. We were told that she personally chose the SkyRanch as the venue because she's adventurous and loves theme park rides no matter how extreme it is. That alone somehows reflects her similarity with Sang'gre Danaya, the role she's portraying in the Encantadia remake that was previously played by Diana Zubiri.

Sanya is quite new to the industry. She was discovered by the late German Moreno when she visited her brother during a taping of Walang Tulugan. That conversation has changed her life since then. Until now, she doesn't know what Kuya Germs saw in her to give her such opportunity. Well, apparently, there must be really something in her to be given a break as big and prestigious as Encantadia.
Sanya has no idea which character she's auditioning for so she studied all of them before she auditioned. Luckily, after a few callbacks where she was asked to try the roles of Lira, Alena, and Danaya (twice), she made it to the final list and even got one of the main roles of the series. It hasn't sunk in to her yet for a while until it was officially announced and sees herself wearing the costume of Danaya.

In preparing for the role of Danaya, she has to stick to her kamote diet and do regular workouts to maintain a fit body. She's also undergoing arnis training for her fight scenes. She's also thankful to her three other Encantadia sisters, Glaiza, Kylie, and Gabbi, for guiding her and giving her helpful tips to bring out the best in her.

As compared to the original series, the Encantadia now is more modern in terms of the effects. The effects in Encantadia before has set the bar in Philippine fantaseryes and it is definitely one of the things the fans are looking forward to in this remake.

Here are more personal fun-facts we found out about Sanya:
  • She's the lone sister of Jak Roberto
  • She's not choosy when it comes to food
  • She's adventurous and she likes "buwis-buhay" rides (that's why she chose SkyRanch to be our venue)
  • During her free time, she works out and loves reading books
  • She loves watching horror, sci-fi, and action movies
  • She likes spicy foods
  • After Encantadia, she's looking forward to doing some action films
  • She admires Jennylyn Mercado and her local showbiz crush is Dennis Trillo
  • In Hollywood, she loves Michelle Rodriguez and Zac Efron
  • She's very close to LGBT
And lastly, on her bashers, Sanya fully understands the comments and negative comments she's getting. She treats each one as a constructive criticism and hoping that people will get to love her as soon as they see the hardwork she's given to her first major TV series.

So who is Sanya Lopez? She's a young fine budding actress that's determined and dedicated to do better in her craft.

Beeffalo: Budget-friendly American Restaurant in Antipolo

Looking for a budget-friendly American Restaurant in Antipolo?

Beeffalo by Hotrocks Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Beeffalo is something you should definitely consider! We really loved what we had during our first visit and it has been one of my favorite restaurants here in Antipolo since then. They don't just offer really good food, but it's also very cheap and affordable! This time, Zomato invited me for a foodie meetup and we've had a handful of dishes. The owner, Sir Louie, is VERY accommodating and has a really good sense of humor. It was really fun sitting with him and listening to his stories on how Beeffalo started and how they run their business.

Running a business can be tricky and you always have to be innovative and a risk-taker at the same time. That's how they do it in Beeffalo. They always have something new to offer and redesign the place often to ensure that there's always something to look forward to in every visit.

During the foodie meetup, we've had quite a handful of their dishes:

Their Taco BBQ Salad is a perfect appetizer while waiting for your entrees. It's like nachos-tacos-salad in one. The BBQ sauce surprisingly worked well with the greens.

For my starter, I ordered the Broccoli-Cheese Soup. It's their newest item since my last visit and I love that it's creamy and every mouthful comes with bits of broccoli.

We also had what they call as "Biscuit Pizza". With it's thin and crispy crust, it's as if you're really eating biscuits with toppings. We were served the Margherita Pizza and the Three-Cheese Pizza. I loved the Margherita Pizza more. Margherita is one of my favorites when it comes pizzas or burgers. I just love the combination of fresh tomato, basil, and cheese. It's very simple yet tasty.

The Beeffalo Wings has always been included in my order list whenever I visit Beeffalo. It's a perfect appetizer and also good with rice. READ ABOUT MY FIRST VISIT HERE

I prefer my steak cooked medium-rare. This Porterhouse came well done though. Anyhow, it still is succulent and the sauce really complements well. I also love the mashed potato that came with it.

Beeffalo's Baby Back Ribs is one of my favorites among all the dishes served during our visit. The meat is really tender that you can effortlessly eat one rib after the other. I also love the sweet smoky taste enhanced by the sauce that comes with it. I can actually have this full rack in one sitting.

Different as it may seem, I'm very sure that the taste isn't strange to every Filipino that's trying this Sizzling Beef Ribs in Tamarind Gravy. It's basically a sinigang with a twist. Instead of having the usual broth, Beeffalo made use of a gravy for the sauce and grilled beef ribs.

Though we're already full with all the dishes we've had, we still managed to try out some of Beeffalo's desserts. Who wouldn't be tempted to at least have a bite of these nice looking sweet treats?

Of all the desserts, I really loved the Gabi Ice Cream. It may sound weird but it's surprisingly good!

Pinopela and Baihana's Akapela Concert Left The Audience In Awe

Last night, Pinopela and Baihana showcased world-class musical talent that left all the audience in awe. It's not everyday that we see an a capella group perform on a concert stage. It was my first time to watch a full contemporary a capella concert and, I admit, I was just amazed that a group of young Pinoy singers can deliver such amazing performances that I've only seen in Pitch Perfect and Sing-Off TV series.

In a contemporary a capella show, each member of the group hold their own microphones and that requires a lot of discipline and proper breathing is critical because one mistake can ruin the whole performance. Both groups didn't fail to amuse the audience nailing one performance over another.

EDnything_Akapela_55
Pinopela and Baihana performing the Salute + Can't Hold Us + Hey Momma Medley

The show had a good share of both international and OPM hits in their repertoire. The first act that covers international hits such as Beyonce Medley, Cartoon Medley, Skyfall, Salute + Can't Hold Us + Hey Momma Medley, and a lot more is just so fun to watch. The second act, which covers some of our OPM favorites, gave me chills. My favorite number, Salidummay, is one of the biggest surprises that night and, too bad, I didn't get to record it so you'll get what I mean. I've already heard different renditions of the song but last night's, arranged by Bing Publico, is just amazing.

The Akapela concert was held to raise funds as Pinopela represent our country at the International A Capella Championships in Singapore where over 200 singers and 30 groups will compete in different categories. Part of the proceeds too will help the Philippine Contemporary A Capella Society, led by Krina Cayabyab and JJ Valiente Pimpinio, achieve their mission in promoting and cultivating contemporary a capella music in the Philippines and help budding a capella groups to be at their full potential.

Pinopela and Baihana

CONGRATS Pinopela and Baihana and THANKS for giving us a great show! And GOODLUCK Pinopela on your upcoming competition! After seeing how you guys nail each performance last night, I'm sure you'll put up a good fight on the international stage and, hopefully, bring home the bacon!

If you've noticed, I'm all praises about the concert last night. I still can't get enough of it, actually! I'd like to share with you some photos and videos of the performances and you be the judge.

Get Real and Let In The Goodness With The New Arla Cheesy Spread

Is your cheesy spread the real deal?

Cheese is one of my favorites because it goes really well in almost any dish. Be it in a main course, snack, soup, appetizer, dessert, or just as it is, you can never go wrong with cheese. Cheese spread is also my favorite partner with breads. It's very easy to prepare that is perfect for those who are always on-the-go. Yes, its delicious and tasty but do you think your cheese spread is made of 100% real cheese?

Most of the cheese spreads in the market now isn't 100% cheese. With all the ingredients and preservatives added to it, you're actually not getting all the nutrients that you can get from real cheese. Well, that is just about to change!

Arla Foods,  makers of the Arla Natural Goodness, is bringing to the Philippines its newest product, the mild, creamy, smooth, and nutritious Arla Cheesy Spread

The best cheeses in the world are made from the highest quality milk. With Arla Cheesy Spread being made of 90% fresh milk and only containing 5 ingredients, you are guaranteed an honest-to-goodness deliciousness and nutritious treat that only an authentic cheese product can offer. Most cheese spreads in the market are yellow and thick because that's how a melted cheese looks like. It's natural white look is the result of the purity of the cow's milk harvested straight from Denmark and the lack of coloring agents.

From L-R: Arla's Marketing Director Paolo Serrano, Amanda Griffin-Jacob, Arla's Sr Gen Manager Jens Christian Krogh Nielsen

From L-R: Real Food Advocates Danica Sotto-Pingris, Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, Amanda Griffin-Jacob, Chef Gino Gonzalez, and Chef China Cojuangco-Gonzalez

During the launch, real food advocates Danica Sotto-Pingris, Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, Amanda Griffin-Jacob, Chef Gino Gonzalez, and Chef China Cojuangco-Gonzalez shared why they love the new Arla Cheesy Spread. As a mom, Rica and Danica are very particular with the contents of the food they're serving. What they love about Arla Cheesy Spread is that it's really nutritious and delicious that makes it easy for them to feed their children. For Chef China and Chef Gino, they prefer ingredients that's has no or less preservatives and extenders. And that's what they love about Arla Cheesy Spread. I've also learned that the first ingredient in the label is always what that product is made of.

Chef Gino also did a quick demo of one of the recipes they make using Arla Cheesy Spread that is really delicious and easy to prepare. Now, I'd like to share it to you guys so you can also try it at home.

The kids of GSIS get creative this summer with PETA!

During summer, parents are looking for activities that their kids can do while on vacation. I remember when I was a kid, I attended several classes like swimming, judo, and arts & crafts. There are so many groups offering summer classes and some companies are actually offering these to their employees' kids.

Every year, the Government Service Insurance System, or GSIS, seeks activities that will help the kids of their employees do something production and fun during vacation. This does not just benefit the kids, but it's also a great way to encourage and develop bonds among families. This year, the GSIS summer program, a month-long program for kids and teens aged 4 to 13, is focused on promoting creative expression and there's no other way to bring out the artist within every kid than through theater. GSIS has partnered with the Philippine Educational Theater Association, or better known as PETA, and offered a series of focused workshops such as creative storytelling, puppetry & visual arts, and drama.

As part of the PETA Summer Program, the participants showcase their learnings through a performance or by simply presenting their own original performance and artwork every end of the week. These showcases are attended by the members and parents of the workshop participants.

Here are some testimonials from the parents who had their kids attend one of the workshops:

"My daughter is really enjoying the workshops. She gets to meet new friends and the most important thing is that she has learned how to participate. She's only  4 years old. Nakatulong din talaga sa kanya para pagdating din ng school year, she'll get to participate and be more active in school activities.", expresses Anne Guste after watching her daughter perform in their first showcase on Creative Storytelling.
"Her teachers have been telling me that she's really good in the visual arts. The workshop became an avenue for me to discover something different about my daughter that I feel I need to develop and that's really nice for parents like us.", Atty. Jane Quimsing explaining how the workshop helped her discover her daughter's potential in arts.

The GSIS Children's Summer Workshop started last April 4 and will commence on the first week of May.

The PETA Summer Program is an ongoing event where you can choose from 8 different courses. I, myself, had a first hand experience on how they run their workshops and, believe me, I had so much fun and learned so many things even in a short period of time.  If you're interested in attending or sending your kids to the PETA Summer Program, you may contact them at 725-6244, 0921-522-1728, or email them at petatheater@gmail.com.
