How is Essilor's Crizal® Transitions® lenses different from the regular 'transition lenses' in the market

To guarantee total protection for the eyes and ensure that patients are getting high-quality ophthalmic lenses, Essilor, the world’s leading ophthalmic optics company, advises consumers to be more discriminating when buying lenses that are touted as “transitions lenses.”

Essilor Transitions is available in Brown and Gray

For those who aren't familiar yet, transition lenses are those that changes color when exposed to UV light. It's just like having a reading glass and sunglasses or shades in one.

How Transitions work

Transitions®, a trademark brand of photochromic lenses, is a brand that is owned by Essilor International, which designs, manufactures and distributes a wide range of lenses in over 100 countries worldwide.

Here in the Philippines, the Transitions® brand is partnered with Crizal®, a globally recognized brand owned by Essilor International, known for its range of anti-reflective, anti-smudge and anti-static lenses. Anti-reflective lenses reduce glare from daytime lights and reflections from blue lights.

Another thing that's good about theses lenses is that it also has protection against scratches, smudges, dust, water and other enemies of clear vision.

Crizal Transitions® lenses provide optimum vision solution.  These genuine lenses are 30% faster to fade back to their clear state and conveniently offer a great contrast perception though glare reduction in any light.

The genuine Crizal Transitions® lenses come with an authenticity card upon purchase.  With these premium lenses, you can rest assured that your eyes are protected and safe.

The Chainsmokers Fun Facts and How To Win Tickets To Their Concert

From ground-breaking performances, to their wild acts, and now a world tour running, these two gents have been storming each country with their addicting productions and this August, they are about to bring the party here to the Philippines! But before we see them live, here are a few trivial facts about a few of their tracks and how this duo came to be!

1. The Chainsmokers pre-performance ritual

Before getting onto the stage, some artists have vocal warm ups and some sweat it out, but for this duo, it’s a different scenario. Imagine them having a few drinks (or a lot in a number of shows) before they turn the stage upside down, or punch each other in the face just to hype the party monsters in them. They also drown themselves with either steak or espressos to turn their bodies up for a massive and unforgettable moment upstage!

2. The name “Chainsmokers” seemed clever

Their name didn’t actually have any historical background or any sentimental meaning for them. Their name “Chainsmokers” was used just because it sounded clever for them and the domains were open. No one could’ve imagined that it would get this big and awesome for them, right? I mean, 443,792,938 views just for one track? How awesome could they get!

3. Soundcloud was the first home of The Chainsmokers

Before achieving the success they have now, The Chainsmokers used to upload their tracks in Soundcloud. It was a matter of expressing their musical passion and their intention to share it with the world.

The Chainsmokers on Soundcloud
They even collaborated with Priyanka Chopra back in 2012. In case you haven’t heard it yet, here you go!

4. You’ve been singing their track “Roses” wrong!

Their biggest track of 2015, “Roses,” was the anthem of every gathering you could think of! But do you honestly and wholeheartedly know the lyrics of that song? Well here are some lyrics you’ve been mistakenly hearing (or singing in the shower perhaps):

Misheard Lyrics:
Take it slow, but it's not typical
He already knows my love is fine
His heart's of stone, his hands roam
I told him to go, but he took it hard

Original Lyrics:
Taking it slow, but it's not typical
He already knows that my love is fire
His heart was a stone, but then his hands roamed
I turned him to gold and it took him higher

5. You would think this duo was in a long-term friendship… absolutely NOT.

Before all the music, the parties, and the mixing, they were total strangers to each other. According to a telephone interview they had with Up to the Sun, they were just introduced to each other by a friend of a friend. Whaaat?! Who would’ve thought that these two would be selling thousands of copies after just sharing the same passion for music! In the same interview, it was mentioned that Drew was mostly into pop tracks and Alex was the one DJing in New York but after two months of mashing mixes, they found themselves doing more legit tracks together!

6. A bookworm and a gameplayer come together!

When they’re not in the music scene, what do these two actually do with their lives? You would think they’d be out partying, living the night, or just doing random things with their friends but nope, not at all. These two have a different side that we don’t usually get to see! Alex is actually a bookworm who loves to read novels, while Drew on the other hand loves video games, well “Call of Duty” to be exact. Well isn’t that a surprise!

7. They take inspiration from anything and everything

These hitmakers do not pick and choose the kind of music they produce. As they say, a person born out of music produces the kind of music that inspires them. They have the passion for the art and this varies from different genres and music types. They wish to continue to evolve as performers and to be off inspiration as well to aspiring musicians. They continue with their mission which is to just mix what they think is fun!

In The Mix: Music Fest Featuring The 1975, Third Eye Blind, Panic! At The Disco, James Bay, Elle King, and Twin Pines

MMI Live and Ovation Productions are bringing in six international acts --- The 1975, Third Eye Blind, Panic! at The Disco, James Bay, Elle King, and Twin Pines—to perform in one epic night dubbed as “In The Mix”.

As one of 2016’s most-awaited music festivals, ‘In the Mix’ will feature live performances from both popular and emerging artists on August 18, 2016 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

In The Mix Poster

Returning to the country as promised at their Manila gig in 2015, The 1975 will be back with new materials and daring new sound with the sophomore album 'I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It', soared to the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart and produced the hit singles like “Love Me”, “Ugh!”, “The Sound”, and “Somebody Else”. The album was out early this year --- a follow-up from their 2013 debut 'The 1975.' The Manchester synth-rock band was responsible of producing hits like “Chocolate”, “Girls”, and “Sex” to name a few.

Alternative-rock band Third Eye Blind will also make their way back to the Philippines. Led by the hits “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Graduate,” “How’s It Going to Be,” “Losing a Whole Year,” and “Jumper,” Third Eye Blind found commercial success in the late 1990s. Their self-titled debut album Third Eye Blind reached number 25 on the Billboard 200 chart, sold six million copies and went six times platinum in the United States.  “Semi-Charmed Life” peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the group a Billboard Music Award for modern rock track of the year.

After their first visit in 2008, Grammy-nominated Panic! At The Disco is also returning with the recently released fifth studio album, ‘Death of a Bachelor.’ Ten years after, the award-winning rock band’s sole remaining founding member Brendon Urie describes their fifth LP as "a mix between Sinatra and Queen" which he written alongside the likes of Ricky Wilson and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo.

Among the newcomers is 2016 Grammy’s Best New Artist nominee James Bay, who is also set to perform his collection of dusty, blues-inspired songs from his debut ‘Chaos and the Calm.’ With his notable singles “Let It Go” and “Hold Back The River,” James also nabbed Grammy nominations for ‘Best Rock Album’ and ‘Best Rock Song’ for his track ‘Hold Back the River.’

The American singer-songwriter Elle King whose debut album ‘Love Stuff’ with the single "Ex's and Oh's," has risen to the top rungs of the charts months after its 2014 release and on the Billboard Hot 100. The hit also made our 26-year-old music fest headliner just the second woman in two decades (after Lorde) to top the Alternative Songs list and the only woman to lead Hot Rock Songs in 2015.

Hailing from Glasgow, frontman Barry Morrell, drummer Graham Brown, and bassist Callum McConville are a three-piece anthemic indie band known as Twin Pines - a homage to the mall in their favourite film “Back to the Future”. With a fresh and innovated sound their single “Young Heart” is scheduled for release this May. The track has already featured on E4 hit show ‘Made In Chelsea’ and has been one of the stand out tracks during the band’s recent live performances.

Viber Kita! More Filipinos Are Now Using Viber To Communicate With Friends And Loved Ones

GaryV and Gab Valenciano with the Viber team

With the wider reach and accessibility of internet through wifi or data plans now, do you still hear people say "text kita"? Not as often as several years back right? Or even if you hear them say "text kita", most likely you'll get a message on your messenger app instead. Yup, that's right! Personally speaking, I rarely use text messaging already. If you check my inbox, all you will see are just text messages from spammers and telcos.

There are so many apps available out there but what do you usually hear people say nowadays? Viber kita

With more and more people using Viber, the leading communications app in the Philippines has celebrated yet another milestone as it recently hit 25 million unique registered users nationwide. That's more than half of the internet users in the country!

“We truly appreciate the overwhelming and continued support from our Filipino users and we’re committed to making Viber even better through local content and partnerships that celebrate and empower Filipinos and be part of their daily lives,” said Crystal Gonzalez, Viber Regional Head for Southeast Asia.

What I, and most Filipino users, love about Viber are the group chats and the stickers. Within my circle of friends, I have about more than 10 group chats - different people with different interests. I also love using Viber stickers because I can express my thoughts in a cute and creative way. And I believe it's not just me because, according to Viber, Filipinos send over 44 million stickers through the app! Among the most downloaded sticker packs are Violet, Freddie, Yango, LegCat, Noy Pi, Becky Vibe, and Vibe On

Which of these are your favorites?

Top Viber stickers in the Philippines

In addition to our favorite custom Pinoy stickers, Viber has also launched new sticker packs featuring two of the most celebrated and sensational personalities in the country. To all who have been hoping for progress and change, #PartnerForChange sticker pack is now up for download featuring our beloved President Rodrigo Duterte. Viber shared that they've partnered with the Presidential Communications Office on this project so these are 100% Duterte-approved!

#GVonViber Sticker Pack, on the other hand, features the legendary Filipino musician/singer/songwriter, Gary V, and his hugot songs like "Hataw Na,” “Shout For Joy,” “Take Me Out of the Dark,” “Di Bale Na Lang,” “Sana MaulitMuli,” “Eto Na Naman,” and many more.

During the launch in Valkyrie Nightclub at The Palace, Gary V was present where he entertained the guests together with his son, Gab Valenciano. Here's the live broadcast of their energetic performance during that night:

Aqua Adventure With Gabbi Garcia

It's part three of our 'Getting-to-know the Encantadia Sang'gres' series and, this time, we're spending a fun day with Gabbi Garcia, Sang'gre Alena.

You might also like:

As we start the day with an interview, Gabbi shared her experiences in doing Encantadia. I remember during one of our blogcons with her, she did audition for Encantadia as Sang'gre Alena. Luckily, she ended up getting the role. According to Direk Mark, it's her sweet and innocent features that made them decide to pick her for the role of Alena.

A video posted by Edward Santos (@ednything) on

Gabbi, together with the rest of the cast and the whole team of Encantadia, were very much overwhelmed with the reception of the audience in their new show. The noise that the fans has created even before the show started and the fact that the show is trending everyday gave them so much inspiration and motivation to give their best in every episode. They're also very happy to share with the audience the same passion and love that they have for the show.

In real life, her similarities with Alena is her being sweet and loving to her family, friends, and fans. On Ruru Madrid, Gabbi shared that their team up for the past two years made her job easier and happier. She also talked about the bond that the whole cast have developed along the way.

Here's a video of our interview with Gabbi Garcia:

And before we end the interview, Gabbi gave a sample of one of her favorite lines in Encantadia, Sang'gre Alena's chant during battle scenes:

A Fun Aqua Bonding Experience With Gabbi

Since Sang'gre Alena is the caretaker of the water gem, it is but right to see Gabbi Garcia live up to her role in Encantadia. One of the interesting facts that I learned about her is that she has been a certified professional diver since she was 10. When asked if she'll be showcasing her diving skills in Encantadia, she said she has been requesting for it and, hopefully, Direk Mark Reyes will finally give in.

Before we get into the water, our guide/diver gave us a short briefing and told us that we're lucky enough if the sting rays and sharks get near us. Well, Gabbi is a natural and you'll see how much these marine creatures loves her.  Check out this video of our aquanaut experience:

Admittedly, I was really afraid at first because it'll be my first time to try helmet diving and there are sting rays and sharks in the water. Thanks to Gabbi and Alexa Villano of Rappler for their words of encouragement. I was able to conquer my fear and enjoy this fun water activity!

Get Your Dose Of Craze in the New Season Of GeeTV

Everyone has our own crazy side. Be yourself and people with surely love you for it!

For host/radio DJ turned celebrity/actress Gee Canlas, she enjoys performing and showing her crazy persona in front of the camera or a live audience. She's never hesitant to just be herself and that's what I loved about her. More than her gorgeous looks and hourglass physique, Gee has so much to offer when it comes to comedy scene. Being part of GMA sitcom's "A1 Ko Sa'yo", Gee shared that her role as Tintin is becoming to be one of her most memorable experiences in acting.

"The thing that I love most about acting is that you can step out of yourself and create new mannerisms and characters. It gives me an excuse to be crazy, sentimental, cooky, and goofy. I have never played a sexy role and here [in A1 Ko Sa'yo], I get to explore her character as a quirky, sexy model-wannabe under Digna (Jaclyn Jose)'s character in the show. I've always been used to roles that show me as just goofy and doesn't highlight my physique and how I dress, and now it's a cool experience that funny can be sexy too"

Other than her sitcom A1 Ko Sa'yo, Gee gets to showcase more of her fun and comic side in real life through her own show, GeeTV. It's an online sketch series tackling relevant issues and social trends presented in the funniest ways possible.

And just recently, Gee launched the newest season of GeeTV in The Brewery At The Palace. With the theme "Be Your Kind Of Craze", the event brought out the craziness in every guest as Gee and the hosts engaged them in fun games and shared good laughs as stand-up comedians entertained everyone with their hilarious acts.

Gee with some of the bloggers during the launch

"I want GeeTV to be the number one Comedy Hub in the world! For me, Pinoy humour is so unique, and if the world gets to see it, and appreciate it, that is sharing our culture, sharing who we are. After all, we are already known to the world to be always smiling, bouncing back from calamities, and what better way to highlight that more than come out with a channel that showcases our true humour."

If you want a good laugh and your dose of craze, don't miss a single episode of GeeTV as it broadcasts every Wednesday at 8pm in www.geetv.online and www.youtube.com/GEETVOFFICIAL.

You might have seen him in some of the popular musicals produced by PETA. And if you do, I’m sure this guy has impressed you with his impeccable vocal range and passionate acting skills, be it drama or comedy.

Nar Cabico in GMA Blogcon

From theater to TV, Nar continues to show his versatility in both acting and singing.

During a blogcon, Nar shared his excitement to the media as he revealed that a 5-year contract with the Kapuso Network is on the works right now. Before, Nar used to showcase his talent on a theater stage and worked as a singer abroad. But with this new endeavor, he has to give up theater for the meantime for him to focus more on his upcoming TV shows.

Helping him is his good friend for more than 10 years, Jerald Napoles. Nar said that he's been getting really helpful advices from him on how it is to work in TV. He admitted that he's not used to

Nar recently starred in GMA's TV series, Beautiful Stranger, and gave a hint on an upcoming project with one of Kapuso's 'biggest' stars. Mark Herras Shares His Experiences As A Gay Hairdresser in Conan My Beautician

Mark Herras shared his experience as a beautician in his latest series, Conan My Beautician.

In the series, he plays the role of Conan, son of a famous barber in their province but, due to circumstances, he had to go elsewhere and pretend to be a gay beautician to be able to work. In Salon Paz, where he became the most talented beautician, he is joined by some of the best Kapuso comedians including Betong Sumaya (Mimi The Hugot Queen), Jerald Napoles (Greg The Paminta), Boobsie (Debbie The Babaeng Bakla), and Tetay (Pia The Kontesera). He later on met the character of Megan Young (Ava) and, eventually, fell in love with her. As the story develops, he then finds himself struggling expressing himself as Megan knows him as gay.

Mark Herras as Conan and Megan Young as Ava

Conan My Beautician is Mark Herras’ first full comedy series. Aside from being dressed as a girl with full makeup and all, one of the challenges that Mark faced in doing the series is how he can keep up with the comedians he’s working with. With his co-stars used to doing impromptu comedy acts, he had to think quick or he’ll be left out. He’s actually grateful that Direk Adolf gives them the liberty to do their thing even if it’s not in the script. Mark admitted that he is also open to advices and criticisms from Direk and his co-stars.

Conan My Beautician airs on Kapuso network every Sunday afternoon. The comedy series also stars Cacai Bautista, Lotlot De Leon, Jay Manalo, Balang, Chlaui, Vangie Labalan, and Antonette Garcia and is directed by Adolf Alix Jr.

AlDub's Imagine You & Me Grand Premier and My Thoughts on the Movie

The experience was surreal. Fans were all over SM Megamall waiting for the arrival of the phenomenal love team. There were even some who came all the way from Olongapo just to have a minute-long glimpse of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza during the Grand Premier of their newest movie, Imagine You & Me.

Imagine You & Me is AlDub's first major film and here are my thoughts after watching it:

  • Many have said that the loveteam has already lost their charm. This movie may just prove them wrong.

  • The romantic feels of the place is perfect for such a sweet couple. The shots are just breathtaking!

  • Aside from the kilig moments of Alden and Maine, the tandem of Kai Cortez and Kakai Bautista brought the audience extreme laughter. If only Maine showed more of her kulit side in their scenes, that could have been more hilarious!
  • For some it may seem selfish of her but what Jasmine Curtis did is such a selfless act. I'm kind of doubtful with her reason though. What do you think?
  • Alden and Maine had so many funny moments in the movie: the 'pader' selfie, the dubsmash scene, that scene where Alden had to pretend that he's really committing suicide, just to name a few.
  • That second kiss in Verona.

  • TIP: Don't leave until after credits or you'll miss the REAL kilig moment this movie has to offer.

#AvisalaKapusoBrigade | Encantadia Fans Day

It was a very special Saturday afternoon for the Kapuso Brigade as the cast of the new Encantadia join them in celebrating their first anniversary. Glaiza de Castro, Sanya Lopez, Gabbi Garcia, James Teng, Rochelle Pangilinan, Kate Valdez, Klea Pineda, and Mikee Quintos thanked everyone for the support and graced each table with a photo ops.

Intense fight scenes, breathtaking special effects, and enhanced storyline.

Those are just some of the things Encantadiks should watch out for in the upcoming remake of Encantadia according to the cast.

Aside from the greetings from the cast and some raffle items, the lucky Kapuso Brigade were also given the opportunity to watch the pilot episode of Encantadia, which will be shown starting July 18 in GMA Kapuso network. After watching, all I can say is that, by far, I have never seen such quality in any of the fantaseryes in the country. Compared to the original version, the new Encantadia is fast-tracked and it added the backstory to give everyone a clearer picture of how everything started.

I hear nothing but wows and awes from the fans as we all witness another milestone in Philippine television. As what Rochelle Pangilinan said during the event, "tatak Pilipino 'to" and it's something that we can really be proud of.

Are you excited for Encantadia?

THEATER REVIEW: Suicide Incorporated

Suicide Incorporated is an eye-opener theater production that raises awareness on suicide and aims to shed light on mental health issues.

Simple set, pure passionate acting, and a serious interesting plot that's very relevant and timely.

But how can a very serious matter be given a comedic approach? That's the first thing that came into my mind when I first learned about Suicide Incorporated. Surprisingly, the delivery of each actor is just so effective that I find myself laughing on some scenes. They actually call it 'dark humor'.

Suicide Incorporated revolves around the life of Jason (played by Hans Eckstein), the newest hire of Legacy Letters - a company that helps clients craft the perfect suicide note. Each character involved have their own struggles in life that will be revealed as the story goes along. With all the problems being faced by Jason, he has his brother, Tommy (played by Bibo Reyes), by his side joining him during his lone times. Tommy has some secrets of his own that, once unfolded, will help you understand Jason's character more. Meanwhile, thinking that Jason has his own agenda with the way he behaves, Scott (played by Jeremy Domingo), the CEO and owner of Legacy Letters makes sure that his company's objectives and mission are on track despite the different approach exhibited by his writer. He had high hopes that Jason can do the job but had to keep an eye on he does it. On the other hand, helping Scott in the business is his ever loyal employee, Perry (played by Chino Veguillas). The character of Perry adds up the fun factor giving a lighter take on such a heavy plot. A confrontation with Scott, whom he looks up to, changed his positive outlook that later on had him resort to a shocking decision. And lastly, Norm (played by Mako Alonso, alternating with George Schulze), Jason's first client, dwelled too much on the issue between him and his partner. He's been struggling to voice out how he really feels that made him reach out to Legacy Letters. Jason looks at him as his mission but later on had become an instrument for his realizations that changed his life.

Suicide Incorporated provides an avenue for everyone to learn more about suicide and gives an idea on how to prevent someone from committing it. It isn't a laughing matter and should be taken seriously. Depression is just one of the main factors why someone would take his/her life. Based on statistics, more men has the tendency to commit suicide compared to women. Why? Because, by nature, it is very rare for men to speak out. Personally speaking, I'm having a hard time voicing out my thoughts too. Although there are some instances that I tend to rant, most of the time, I would just keep my problems to myself and find a way to solve it on my own. Don't worry, suicide isn't one of my options. :)

Another thing that I've learned from this play is the IMPORTANCE OF LISTENING. When you encounter someone that's full of negativities (oh you'll find this a lot in social media), do not just brush it off. Sometimes, it pays off to listen. Who knows, you might change ones life too.

Suicide Incorporated is produced by Twin Bill Theater and is directed by Steven Conde. The show will run from July 15-31 at the P.A.R.C (Performing Arts and Recreation Center) located in 494 Lt. Artiaga Street, San Juan. Here are the playdates:

Do you love watching movies? If you do, will you last a 24-hour movie marathon while dancing?

With Php 200,000 at stake, movie enthusiasts joined the Star Movies Move-A-Thon last June 27 where each has to dance while watching some of the best and popular movie musicals of all time for 24 hours straight! And for the first time, the contestants were allowed to compete in teams.

“We were so excited to continue Star Movies’ tradition of exciting movie marathons this year and add another cool twist to up the game. Star Movies Move-A-Thon certainly brought the most dedicated film lovers out of the woodwork and onto the dance floor, and we’re proud to be handing the prize over this year to those who really worked for it, had a lot of fun, and really deserved it,” said Charo Espedido, Director and Head of Marketing for FOX International Channels.

The Star Movies Move-A-Thon, which was held at House Manila in Resorts World Manila, had the contestants undergo various challenges aside from the non-stop moving throughout the day for them to earn their bathroom breaks. The event is indeed a test of physical endurance and focus. In the end, the last team dancing—and watching—was declared the winner of the movie marathon.

The Star Movies Move-A-Thon was made possible by FOX Networks Group in cooperation with Listerine: Bring Out The Bold, 5 Star Cadbury: The latest, happiest, craziest Cadbury in town #youthinkyoucan, and Dolfenal "para laging good vibes, magdolfenal”, official venue partner, Resorts World Manila, Nothing Compares, and House Manila and official coffee partner, Bo’s Coffee, Your Homegrown Coffee.
